Sophisticated fusion cuisine is the culinary profile at Toni M. But definitely not the kind of fusion that simply throws together all the various world cuisines depending on the chef’s mood that day – as cook Toni Mörwald emphasizes. At Toni M.’s the tenet of Austrian culinary culture is well observed, i.e., combining – or fusing – the fundamental ideas of grand classic cuisine with a modern philosophy of preparation. Being light, refined and elegant, using only the finest ingredients it’s no wonder that Mörwald’s culinary art annually persuades the critics of his outstanding quality.

Back to the roots

After long years of acquiring gastronomic knowledge and skills all around the world, Toni Mörwald returned home and took over his parent’s tavern, where today he runs an inn as well as his gourmet restaurant Toni M. It was opened in 1990 and at once Toni won his first Gault Millau toque as Austria’s youngest cook. Nowadays he also publishes cook books, offers cooking courses and owns restaurants and guest houses.

Make yourself comfortable

The modern interior design of the Restaurant suits the trendy cuisine well. It is located within the original tavern building of the Mörwald family, next door to the Wirtshaus, a typical Austrian pub, serving hearty fare. The building lies in the midst of the vineyards overlooking the Wagram. The Wagram is a huge steppe in the landscape extending some 30 kms from Krems on the left bank of the Danube. You can stay here in the charming Villa Katharina, just opposite the restaurant.
